topic How can I access the files of a deceased user's account? in Security and Permissions

Greetings,

I have been searching for a few important files in my company's SharePoint database for an older project that has stalled but will soon be up and running. I found some of the files in an old coworkers folder, but they are Dropbox files and I can't access them. He passed away earlier last year and our IT department did the best they did to transfer everything from his work phone, computer, and laptop, but when I asked about these files they said that they think he must have used his personal email. His name was Kirby [removed per Community Guidelines]. Is there anyway to access these files, or are they lost forever?

Thanks,

Unless the files were shared with someone else that still has them, there would be no way for you to access files that were in someone else's account.

Hi @Trayson, I’m really sorry to hear about your coworker.

What I’d suggest, as the best option, is to log a ticket with our support team directly.

They’ll need to check this, and see if there’s something more they can offer. Here are the steps to open a ticket.

You can send me your ticket number here afterwards.

Hope this helps!
