Hello everyone,

We are experiencing a small problem with uploading to Dropbox via API on one of our servers since Saturday. The server's upload speed reaches a maximum of 600 kb/s using Rclone and Duplicati, but mostly stays around 200 kb/s.

We have been using Dropbox for several months without any such issues before. We have tested the upload speed on multiple devices, and it seems to be limited to this particular server.

We have already attempted to resolve the issue by restarting the server, but unfortunately, it did not help. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to address this problem?
Download speed is normal and works fine!

Hey @Skyfay, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.

Would you mind clarifying if you're referring to the Dropbox desktop app or the Dropbox API?

If this has to do with the desktop app, have you taken a look at the bandwidth settings in the app's preferences, to check if your uploads are maybe limited?

Let me know.

Hi @Hannah

I'm talking about the Dropbox API. Whether the Dropbox desktop app on the device would also be affected, I don't know.

@Skyfay Your connection speed to Dropbox depends on the routing you get between your ISP and our servers, and may be slower than your ISP's rated speeds, and may vary over time. Sometimes resetting or retrying your connection gets you a different route and better speeds, but that is outside of our control. Some ISPs also throttle sustained connections so if you see an initial high connection speed followed by lower speeds, that could be the reason.

If you're only seeing this from a particular server, there may be an issue with that particular server or its network connection, but that would also be out of Dropbox's control, so you may want to contact your server or network admin for debugging any potential local or network issues that may be slowing the connection.

When using the Dropbox API, the implementation of the third party app itself also matters, so you may want to contact the developer of the third party app for support for it. There may be coding or configuration changes they can make to optimize its performance.
