It's highly unlikely that Dropbox will ever develop such a feature. They used to have many photo-centric features, including a separate iOS app just for photo management, but it and nearly all other photo features, including the ability to create and share albums, have been removed from Dropbox over the last few years. They just don't seem interested in photo management anymore.

HI...

I have about 1.2 terabyte of images in Photos, som 55,000 images. They are all downloaded on my Mac.

I want to export everything into Dropbox. When I export from Iphoto it create one folder for each day making it impossible to view pictures because it pretty much create 365 folders per year.

I would like to either

A) export all picturs and videos from year 2003 into a dropbox folder named 2003 and so on

or

B) somehow export directly from Icloud (Iphoto) to Dropbox maintaining the folder structure I have in Iphoto.

I have searched all over but cannot find a way to do it.

What do others do?

Hey there @PeterXP, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

Since exporting the images is a function of iPhotos, there's unfortunately not much I can suggest here. You might need to contact Apple Support for some further assistance with how to export into the folder structure you'd like.

Otherwise, there might be some users here with more insight on how you can achieve this. Sorry that I can't be of much more help here, but please don't hesitate to give me a nudge if you have any other questions.

Have a great weekend ahead - thanks!

Hello there,

Thank you very much for you answer. I would have thought that dropbox would be very interested in moving people from Apple's ecosystem into their own and that they may have some kind of solution how to do this without too much trouble. When you like me have almost 1 TB of picture (some 45,000) all grouped and organized into albums then it is almost impossible to move it manually.

An automated migration to would make a lot of sense.

@druidbox can you help?

Hey @PeterXP,

I'll be more than happy to pass along your feedback and suggestions to our dev team so that they can review this for future Dropbox improvements.

Unfortunately, at the moment there's not much else I can suggest here as we don't have a function that would help with migrating your data. I could suggest though that there may be some third-party apps that you might be able to use which you could find with a quick web search. Some other users might even be able to give you some suggestions here!

Let me know if you have any other questions - thanks!

Okay thank you very much.

I would have thought that he would be in dropbox interest to make the transition from any of the major players (Apple, Google and Microsoft) as easy as possible. Dropbox is one of the only services that lets you be flexible, because the service works on all platforms.
