Hey @Kenterologist, thanks for joining our Community.

It sounds like you're on a free account indeed, but had probably gained some extra space from a promotion.

Promotional space is available for a limited amount of time, it usually lasts about 12 months.

If you received an email that your space will expire, that means that the promotion will expire.

You should be able to see what kind of promotion it is in the plan tab of your account settings.

I hope this clarifies things, but let me know if you have any questions.

I’ve had Dropbox for a long time. Now I’m confused. I have the Basic Plan. That tells me I have 2 GB of storage available. But when I look on my desktop computer, it says is have 6.5 GB of data stored. When I login to the online website, it says I have 28.25 GB of storage (instead of only 2 GB.) It further says that I am using 6.5 GB of the 28.25 GB available.

Now, I have an email from Dropbox indicating that my “space expires 07/13/22” and they want me to upgrade, to 2 TB for a few.

What’s going on here? Am I going to lose access to my data if I don’t upgrade?

And. It’s very annoying that I can’t reach their customer support; I feel like terminating this account . . .

Thanks for your help!

Thank you, Hannah! Sounds typical, sucking me in with a free promotion and then sucking more money out of me later.
