Hi @domcas,

Thanks for the heads up on this!

You can only have one account at a time per email, so if the email is the exact same, (except for the # at the end), it's possible the old account became inactive.

To find out if this was the case, you'll need to open a support ticket where one of our account security team specialists can assist you directly via the account's verified email.

Here's how to do that:

Right click the following link, and choose open in Incognito, or Private mode, so as you will not be signed into any account: https://www.dropbox.com/support/sign-in-issues — use the drop down box to choose "Disabled account", and you can let them know the account email and they'll reach out for security verification.

Also, can you ask the sender to un-share then re-share files and see if you are able to access them from the new account?

I hope this helps!

Accidentally logged in with Google, now my account is gone

I've had a Dropbox account for years using my Gmail account. I've always logged in with that Gmail account and a password. Today I accidentally used the "Continue with Google" login button instead of my usual Gmail/password combo. It seems to have created a whole new account under my Gmail address, completely empty, with none of my files.

A friend previously shared a folder with me to my Gmail address. I received an email notification about this a while ago, and it used to work fine. Now when I click on the "Add to Dropbox" button in that email, I get this message

"[myemail]@gmail.com# was given access, but you’re signed in as [myemail]@gmail.com"

I guess Dropbox added the "#" to my original account, and created a new one with my gmail? I tried logging in with [myemail]@gmail.com# and it says it's an invalid address. Can you help?
