No. It's a misunderstanding of what your client was accepting when they received the invitation. They believed they were just accepting access to a shared folder, when in fact they were invited to and joined a Dropbox Business team account. Doing so merges their account into the team account, effectively making the team the owner of their account.

The folder isn't what was deleted. The team admin removed your client from the team, which results in the account being deleted. If the intent was to keep the account active and turn it back over to the original owner, it needed to be converted back to an individual account. The account can be restored as long as it's within seven days of the deletion, after which the account cannot be recovered. Once restored, the admin can convert it.

Hi,

I have a paid dropbox account which I use to upload lectures for sharing with other people.

Another group needs Cantonese lectures & one of this group created a dropbox account just for those lectures.

I was invited to edit the folder "Cantonese Lectures" because I am the main person who can access these lectures & place them in the folder.

When I logged in for this folder & added the lectures - I discovered I could no longer get back to my paid account.

Fortunately I still had access on another Browser so I managed to have access to one dropbox on one browser & my paid dropbox on another browser but unfortunately I was logged out of one of the browsers & now can only access the Cantonese folder.

I don't understand how I have lost access to my paid account & cannot get back into it when I did not set up the Cantonese folder but was invited to edit it.

How do I get access to my paid account back? Thank you!

Hi @Chatcat-89, thanks for messaging today!

Just for clarification, it sounds like you have two separate Dropbox accounts, under different email addresses. Have you tried accessing the site with another email address that you own, in case it was the paid account?

When you paid for the plan, was it via the Dropbox site, or the mobile app?

This will help me to assist further!

I have the paid account & when I was sent the email saying I could add to the box " I clicked on it & it asked for my email & login which I gave (those were for my main account) but then all I can access is this dropbox. Now when I go access dropbox it only takes me to the Cantonese lectures.

I was using my PC.

Came here looking for a solution with something similar. It looks like trying another browser might help.

A client has a paid Dropbox. He was invited to a folder by another Dropbox user (UserB.)

He accepted UserB's invitation, and all was good until UserB deleted the folder he had shared with my client. Now, my client has lost access to his Dropbox account. This appears to be a flaw in how Dropbox manages access rights, no?

Hi Bill,

I feel like I've got a similar situation as the person who started this thread. I had my own personal Dropbox Plus subscription but when I joined a group, my access was bumped back to the basic plan. I got an email confirming this with the prorated refund. My personal email was incorrectly used for access to this group and that's been cleared up.

How might I regain access to my Dropbox Plus subscription for the remainder of the year? Or have I lost that coverage and need to pay for the full amount starting now (instead of Jan 31, which was when I started the upgraded plan)?

So, if I use a Dropbox account to store personal/private files and accept an invitation to a Business Account as is suggested here, then my PERSONAL/PRIVATE files now belong to someone else?

Am I the only one who thinks this is a crazy access management "feature?"

NOTE TO SELF, AVOID YE OLDE DROPBOX!!
