Is this a phishing attempt from em-s.dropbox.com?

Hi, I'm concerned that I may have been phished.

I received an email from no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com. After examining the unsubscribe link, I decided it was okay and clicked on it. It looked like this truncated link: https://links.dropbox.com/e/eh?_t=60154<snip>

It all seemed legit to me, but after the click my Windows laptop screen went blank for a moment, and I heard the familiar sound of when a device comes online. At no time did I click on a file (just the unsubscribe link), but I was still worried. So I took the PC offline and changed my passwords.

I started researching this email address no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com and it seems to be from Dropbox - https://help.dropbox.com/security/official-domains.

Some other articles on the topic:

So I'm thinking I may have gone on high alert for no reason.

Has anyone seen this situation? I still don't understand why Windows behaved the way it did. Perhaps a coincidence?

Any support is much appreciated!

Hey @Egg24, thanks for posting here today!

Based on everything you mentioned it sounds like a coincidence indeed.

The domain you mentioned is an official Dropbox one, and you troubleshooted this perfectly by changing your passwords in any case. It's definitely not redundant to stay alert for phishing scams.

But I think your device might have wanted to give you an unnecessary scare this Friday.

I hope this helps!
