Hi there @Jimbo500, thanks for posting on our Community!

It's true that Dropbox servers are located both in the EU and US while we continue to offer to host business customers’ files in Europe if they choose this option however the personal data that is entrusted to us is protected equally under GDPR whether it is hosted in Europe or the US.

I hope this helps!

IDTA (International Data Transfer Agreement) with Dropbox

Good morning all

I have a MS Access database on my account which I use to store personal details and tracking of progress within the organisation I represent in the UK. The data appears to be stored on a US server and I therefore require an International Data Transfer Agreement with DropBox to import and export that data across the cloud with the UK. How do I obtain that agreement to be GDPR compliant?

I also understand that if I purchase a business account then I can stipulate it be on a UK or EU server to remove the necessity for an IDTA. Is this correct please?

The Information Commisioners Office in London has stated that as from the 22nd Februrary 2022 all personal data stored on DropBox outside of the EU require an IDTA between DropBx and the account user to be GDPR compliant in the UK and I have the legislation in PDF.

Another option is to have a business account and stipulate the UK or EU but that option requires the user to have 10 licences when only 1 is required. That is unecessary and very costly to a very small businesss. An IDTA us the easiest and cheapest option.
