Dropbox Professional

New member | Level 2

Good day Team,

My team leader/Director upgraded to dropbox prof a few weeks ago, after getting the suggestion from another dropbox user. This gives us great mobile access to any of our files.

We have been using dropbox for almost 2 week and started moving all our files to our dropbox profile. The problem is that all the users, except the teamleader/director has 2GB available space.

Why is the director the only person with 2TB and how can we resolve this issue? The main concern that we are dealing with is the fact that some of our files is still on our old system.

All the best.

Hey there @Jeannedre  - how are you today?

First and foremost, allow me to clarify that the Professional plan is an individual one - not a team one. Read on for more information:

Your Dropbox quota is calculated based on the total contents of your Dropbox, which includes shared folders. A Dropbox account can't sync more than its quota, so a 2 GB account can't sync more than 2 GB, including the space taken up by shared folders. Because every member of a shared folder can add and modify the files in the shared folder, the shared folder takes up space in each member's account. This policy exists to prevent people from giving themselves unlimited space by stacking Basic accounts and shared folders.

If you'd like to share a folder without impacting the recipient's quota, you can share a link to the folder, instead. A shared link allows users to view or download a one-way, read-only copy of the folder. You can read about this on our Help Center here:

If you'd like others to upload files to your Dropbox account without impacting the submitters quota, you can send a file request. Our file requests feature enables a requester to have files uploaded to their Dropbox account by other individuals. You can read about this on our Help Center here:

If you want to remove a shared folder from your account without affecting other members, you can remove your access to it. Please see our Help Center for instructions:

If you need a little more space by any chance, you can visit the following pages on our website to see how you can earn bonus space:

Finally, if you are interested in sharing a quota pool between multiple users, we do have a Dropbox Business subscription. You can read more about Dropbox Business on our website here:

I hope this information clears things up and please let me know if you have any more questions.
