XXX, a Dropbox team on XXXX.net is awaiting for you

Hi XXXX, Someone on XXXXX.net has created a Team Dropbox to work.

This email goes to my organization's email addresses.

I am concerned that someone opened an account on my company's domain name and trying to hack accounts/information.

Hey @profupgrade, I understand your concern; let me explain below!

For starters, I ran a search on my end & I could see that you’re in direct contact with my specialized colleague regarding this on your open support ticket. I’ve made a note of your comments here & increased your support priority internally to help expedite matters.

Having said that, it would be worth checking whether the email comes from a Official Dropbox domain. You should be able to see that on the sender’s email address field. If anything looks suspicious, you could let my coworker know on your existing email chain & they’ll further investigate.

I hope my pointers are helpful & I’m always her if you need further assistance from me in any way!

Jane,

I do not think your colleagues at Dropbox understands the situation and how serious it is. They are still referencing a TEAM account I am using. I do not have a team account. Hacker does!

I just found out from your colleague that Dropbox is NOT verifying email addresses when an account is created. This means anyone can create an account impersonating companies and people without any consequences.

Our legal team is still expecting an answer regarding this issue and corrective actions are being delayed due to Dropbox.

This is getting ridiculous. The case is going nowhere. Your colleague has no idea what the problem is and following a written template that does not apply my situation.

She is still telling me what I should do to MY account to secure it while I keep saying it is NOT my account that I am complaining about.

Dropbox is facilitating hackers! Everyone who is reading this forum should understand that Dropbox is actually allowing anyone to create an account without checking the ownership of email addresses.

Dropbox is also not doing anything to take corrective actions.

Action to take is first to identify WHICH account sent the malware & invitations that I referenced. Where is it originated?

I am asking someone competent and experienced to give me a call ASAP.

Sorry to hear you’re feeling this way @profupgrade

Generally speaking, in order to use some features of Dropbox and post in our forums, the email address of your Dropbox account needs to be verified.

At the moment, your best bet would be seeking resolution via your open ticket, as our team specialist will take further actions according to our security policies if needed/possible. Your ticket is escalated with high priority on our system & all relevant communication across channels has been included there.

Having said that, scheduling outbound calls isn’t currently a Support option, however you should be able to to review what’s available to you/your current plan if you visit our Support page.

I can’t access any account-specific details here & that’s why I couldn’t further advise on your options on this specific case; I hope this gets resolved soon for you however.

Please let me now if there’s anything else I can do for you!
