My account seems to be full. Do shared folders take up my space?

Helpful | Level 6

Apologies for asking this again if I have already done so. I can't find the response if one was sent.

My question is are other peoples folders they share with me added to my account and therefore fill up my account? If not how do I distinguish between my folders and those shared with me?

Thx.

Hey there @werd  - how are you today?

The quickfire answer to your question is yes, they do! For more information on this, you can visit the following Help Center article:

https://help.dropbox.com/files-folders/storage-space

In regards to your second inquiry, the best way to distinguish your own (private) folders from your shared ones would be to take a look at the folders' icons as the ones that are shared will have the two people icon on them.

You can find more information about this here:

https://help.dropbox.com/files-folders/share-with-others

I hope this helps clear things up and please let me know should you come up with any additional questions in the future.

PS: If needed, you can view your current quota's distibution on the page below:

Thanks Walter,

So if I were to delete a shared folder, would the others sharing the folder no longer have access to it and would all the content inside be deleted?

Thanks

Drew
