Problem connecting personal to business account

My personal dropbox account uses my personal email address and my (new) business account uses my work email address. I wonder if this is what is preventing me from connecting the personal to business account? I get the error message "You must connect to a personal dropbox account" when I put my email and password into the sign in box.

Is your personal account part of a free team (a feature recently eliminated, but still available if you already had it)? If so, your account is seen as a Business account and can't be linked to another Business account. You'd need to leave the team first.

Another way to merge two accounts-your personal and business-is to use the manually merge feature available here: https://www.dropbox.com/help/account/merge-two-accounts. You can have both accounts under two separate emails or under one email this way.

Please note that the type of merging that @mayaondolphin is referring to is only used to combine files from two personal accounts into one. Accounts cannot actually be merged, and shared folder and team memberships do not transfer. It is only meant to move files from one personal account to another personal account.

 

I do not believe this was your intent.

Yes, it was part of a free team - once I left I was able to merge the accounts. I am also still able to see all the files in the team folder as they were at the time that I left, which is useful as I will now need to transfer them to the business account.
