moving files within dropbox

Level 2

Two questions about simple tasks.  1) When I use the "move" feature, I get a "suggested location."  How can I bypass or override that "suggested location" and enter a different location?  2) I have a purple folder of uploaded photos and tried to create a new folder to which I wanted to move some photos.  The new folder appears to be a sub-folder of the purple folder, when I meant to create a new blue folder.  Is there a way to delete the sub-folder after moving all photos to the new blue folder?

Hey there (@Melissamundell), both great questions & thanks a lot for taking a bit of your time to write us about it on our Community!

#1. When it comes to your initial inquiry, please bear in mind that under the Suggested Location (which is based on previous activity and file type), you should be able to see your entire folderstructure, therefore you can Move your folder to your preferred location & organize your folderstructure as you wish.

#2. Following, it’s my understanding that you’re referring to the Camera Uploads folder when you’re describing it as a purple one with photos, am I on the right track? If so, then you should be able to delete your subfolder normally following the steps outlined here

Hopefully this answers your question & please do keep me updated on this discussion in case you’d like me to elaborate on any of the above in a bit more depth. Happy Friday!

Gooo d Day

When I try to move a file as sugested I get the suggested place to move the file to but I can not change this by clicking furiously on the icon.

How do I open the directory/icon up?

Hey there (@jpwright), the suggested location you can see on the top is based on your previous activity & filetype. Do you you wish to change the directory displayed there by any chance? If so, then it wouId be worth noting that this isn't currently possible however I’m also wondering if you can find your preferred folder upon scrolling a bit on your filestructure below the Suggested location.

Please have a look at my recommendations at your earliest convenience & let me know how you get on with my advice or if I’ve misunderstood your question in any way on our discussion here. Thanks & enjoy the rest of your day!
