After Dropbox update it won't open on startup (Mac); asks me to go to dropboxer.net

I got a request from dropbox to make an update which would move the dropbox from one place on the Mac to another (Monterey 12.6). I did this. since then when I start up I get a pop-up message on the screen saying that DB cannot connect with two buttons - ok, and help. if I click the help it takes me to a google page asking me to sign in with my google email, and with a box asking me to sign in to a page dropboxer.net with a choice of my google or work emails. If instead I open dropbox.com all seems to be ok on the site and the app.

Help! what should I do?

Hey @ardmara, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Can you please send us a screenshot of the pop-up message you're getting, so we can have a visual of this?

Thanks in advance!

Here it is. I've uninstalled dropbox from my mac and re-installed it now. Will see how it works today.

No, I'm still getting the same message. When I click the 'get help' button, I get this (Then it has my google email beneath it and my work email, but I cropped them out for this share):

to clarify: I click the 'get help button, it takes me to safari, where that message comes up on the screen.

Hi @ardmara, can you try to click the "OK" button, then try to start the desktop app again? Does it still fail to open after that?

yes, I can get it open, but I have to do this every time I open up the computer - open safari, go to my dropbox account, and then it will open on the desktop.

Hi @ardmara, can you click on the blue hyperlink, and attach the error message to your next response?

It downloaded as .txt and that would not upload here, so I've copy & pasted into word; that wasn't supported so I tried pdf and that was not supported...
