Apps and Installations

So for the last few months the Dropbox icon has just disappeared from my notification area in Windows 10. It's not hidden, I've checked settings, it says Dropbox.exe is on and should be appearing (Although underneath it says "Dropbox 161.4.4923 Starting..." and never changes) I've tried reinstalling, restarting, admin mode. Nothing. Sometimes reinstalling will help but after a day it'll be gone again.
It's frustrating because I can't pause syncing. Dropbox still works it syncs and everything but I can't access it to change settings or anything. Even trying to open it through the start menu does nothing it just doesn't show up. I'm kinda at my limit now and am getting desperate to fix it
Hey @Gamblord,, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you try installing the latest version of he app using the offline installer from this page?
If the issue persists, please send us a screenshot of the app's status as shown in your system tray so that we can have a visual too.
Thanks!

Hi there!
So initially this worked! Reinstalling via this offline installer worked and the icon returned and worked normally, but now it's stopped working again and reinstalling it isn't fixing it anymore. I'm really confused about this. I have a screenshot of the notification area and the settings for it

After reinstalling via the offline installer, the icon appears momentarily for a minute but then disappears again (tried to take a screencap of it being there but it disappeared before I could)

As usual the program is actually working, Dropbox is still syncing my files and everything. But I can't control any settings or tell it to pause syncing.
Sorry for jumping in, @Gamblord.
I’m afraid that due to security reasons, we can’t click on any links provided on the forum.
Can you please select the small camera icon showing above your message box, right before you post your reply, and add your screenshots directly in this thread?

I've tried again and again to try and fix it but nothing is working.
Thanks for the screenshots, @Gamblord.
If you haven't tried already, can you uninstall the Dropbox application, restart your computer and then reinstall it, to see if that helps?

I've gone ahead and tried it, unfortunately still isn't showing up.
Hey @Gamblord, sorry to hear this persists for you.
The next step would be an advanced reinstall as outlined here.
Can you give it a go and let us know how it goes?
I also noticed that you're running a bunch of apps on your computer, so you may need to quit some of those apps too to see if they're somehow interfering.
In any case, please keep us posted!

Hi again, went through all the steps, made sure no other apps were running when reinstalling at the end and unfortunately it's still just not showing up.
Hi @Gamblord, can I send you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this?
