Re: Can Dropbox work on Windows ARM the same qs it works on Windows INTEL

Having a Surface Pro X, i did upvote the feature request. But seeing that this thread is here for six years to no avail i have my doubts.

In any case i did move most of my files already to OneDrive and the interest in a Dropbox client is dwindling.

I too would very much appreciate an arm version of the client.

I wrote this comment back in March. Now I'm fully switched to using a Raspberry Pi 4 as my main home and work computer. I've created a git repo for my system configs and moved my password db backup to google drive. My documents were already almost all in google drive. As for projects, well I'll just need to make sure I push to WIP git branches instead of stashing.

I'm not writing this to complain. I know first hand how difficult and time consuming it is to run a business at Dropbox's scale. The product is amazing and works incredibly well. I haven't canceled my account and I'm not planning to. Whenever Dropbox arm64 is released I'll happily start using it again.

Thanks for the additional feedback people!

@Decayenne: Thanks for providing the specifics for your use-case; this helps a lot when considering our next features/implementations.

While I don't know if/when this will get implemented, I've found the relevant feature request for you to upvote to show your interest (and maybe share your thoughts) here:

Have a lovely week!

That is not the right ticket at all. It is a stupid request for Dropbox for Raspberry Pi and ANY ARM platform. Nobody in their sane mind will pay attention to this ticket because it is headed by a rather niche request and several Android phones running on ARM chips already have access to a fully working version of Dropbox.

The request is to MAKE DROPBOX WORK ON WINDOWS FOR ARM - you managed to make it work for Android running on ARM and iPhones before.

I had the same problem.  Best solution for me was to move on and switch to OneDrive.  Works great.

Perhaps I'm late to the party (and I guess I should have done some extra research before buying an ARM computer)... But will there (ever) be a Dropbox Desktop app I can install on Windows 11 running on an ARM processor?

I don't even want to think about going through the hassle of changing from Dropbox to something else but for now, it's not working.

Any advice?  Thank You.

See Subject.

Dropbox have a working version on Apple Silicon (M1 chipset) and have had so for a while. They clearly do not consider Windows ARM Version to be sufficiently popular. Which is really bad for me because I use Parallels for Windows emulation on an Apple Silicon Macbook and you can only have ARM based VMs. So with ARM based macOS VMs no issue with Dropbox. With ARM based Windows VMs it is absolute garbage with Windows S mode which isn't even integrated with Windows Explorer. It is complete Garbage on ARM.

So either don't buy Windows ARM hardware or don't use Dropbox, ATM it is that simple.

And clearly Dropbox are not listening, they have essentially done nothing.

Dropbox client for Windows 11 ARM?

Hi all, I try to install the Windows Dropbox client on Windows 11 ARM (running on a Mac via Parallels) - I had the same running on an Intel Mac with no problems. Dropbox on install says "Your device is not supported". I tried the recommended Dropbox S and it's not a real client with the same capabilities from what I see. So is there a client? Thanks!

Hi @donawalt, thanks for messaging today.

The Dropbox desktop application for Windows isn't supported on ARM processors, so the app can't be installed there.

Currently, only the Dropbox for S Mode app can be installed on these devices.

If you need any more details, feel free to message back.

Shame dropbox doesn't have a native Windows ARM client with sync ability.

Now that the ARM ecosystem is mature, Dropbox is becoming a bottleneck for moving to ARM processors.
