I find it hard to believe the Dropbox team is ignoring this - after the extensive search on the web I have found that I am not the only person with this problem - i.e. Dropbox client on Windows 7 simply won't start. Nothing seems to help and the most frustrating thing (apart from the fact that it was working fine a month ago) is that there is no error message whatsoever. Nothing. Nada. No single log/error file. It simply stopped working. I tried reinstalling it. I tried cleaning up registry with a number of tools. Shame on you Dropbox 😞

Have you contacted Support yet?
I have the exact same issue and have done all the same processes. Sent a ticket to dropbox and all they send back is an email that no live support is available and there community or help center can solve the problem. No such luck. Spent two days on and off trying anything and everything suggested. Drop box will not start! Any help would be appreciated!
Same problem. Dropbox runs ok on my husbands account, but on mine it won't open. I has worked ok in the past. Windows 7 Pro.
I have the same issue as well, it was running fine for months, then I realized that it was not loading. Now I have a bunch of un synced files. Uninstalled & reinstalled to no avail.
No one seems to have a solution to this?
I have the same problem. Tried all sorts, but no fix. Only seems to be on Win 7 Pro machine, all others are fine.
I found another thread from a couple of years regarding this issue and it was suggested to start Dropbox in compatibility mode. I tried this and it worked.
Hey that worked!! Thanks!! So I had installed an older version and it was working again, but it auto upgraded (to 3.16.1) and stopped working again.
Thanks for the tip Sarah!!
Steve
I am happy to confirm that Running in Compatibility Mode worked for me as well. I still find it hard to believe that Dropbox team ignores the issue. In the meantime, after few months of fruitless fight I switched to Google Drive (that works like a charm) and moved all my files so I guess the solution came too late for me...
