Dropbox App: File provider update not working

Dropbox App: File provider update not working

Hi all,

I'm on macOS 13.5.1 on a mac mini and I have a private and a business account installed (Dropbox version 181.4.5678). Today I received the notification that I can update to the new version with the file provider. I clicked on «start now» and clicked through the steps on the popup. A few seconds after the file migration supposedly sstarted the Dropbox app closes and restarts, however without connection to one of the accounts. The notification appears again (I guess for the other account) but the same happens again and after Dropbox restarts, I have to log in again and I have not received a new App version.

I tried it twice already and I'm wondering if anyone else has the same problem. Is there any known solution?

Thank you in advance!

Hi there @benno1, sorry to hear about this.

Have you rebooted your computer at all since you first noticed this?

Also, am I safe to assume that you've installed the desktop app with admin privileges in the first place and also granted Dropbox full disk access as outlined here?

Let me know and we'll take it from there.

Hi @Walter

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I reinstalled the Dropbox app and now the migration seems to be working. It is possible that the app was previously installed without admin privileges. I'll mark your answer as solution once the migration has finished successfully.
