I am running a triple monitor setup, where the primary monitor is the center monitor and one monitor on either side of it.
When in Microsoft Excel with a document located within the Dropbox folder hierarchy, the badge jumps mostly off of the screen on to one of the other monitors. Moving Excel to a different monitor moves the badge to a adjacent to the monitor that Excel has been moved to, always showing just a little bit on the edge of excel (as though it were attempting to hide partially until needed).
I've attached a screen shot to show the location of the badge.
In case it matters, the primary resolution is 1920x1080 and the two other monitors are 1920x1200.
I'm running Windows 8.1 with MS Office 365 Business.
I have since turned off the badge, but I thought I'd report the issue for other users who want to use the feature.
Hi Craig,
Thanks a lot for your post and alerting us to the problem. I apologise the delay in getting back to you.
Are you still experiencing this issue?
Thanks!
Hi Craig,
Just a quick update here. I just spoke to our product manager for the badge in regards to the problem with multiple monitors. This is something that our engineering team is aware of and actively working on. We are aiming at having it fixed until the end of the year, but cannot make any official commitments at this point. But it's a high priority to fix this issue!
Just to say I'm also having this issue. It's exacerbated by the fact that the badge is not moveable.
Hi James,
Thanks for your feedback as well. We apologise for the issue you're experiencing. As mentioned before, it's a high priority for our engineering team to fix this problem.
Dropping in to say this is an issue for me as well. Being movable to wherever would be the best solution, but if it would just stay on the inside edge of the screen, it would be OK.
Thanks Travis, we appreciate your feedback!
Well, it's January and this problem still exist? Is it still a high priority issue?
Hi Maciej,
Thanks for checking in. It absolutely is. Unfortunately, fixing this isn't trivial, but I can reassure you that our engineers are still working on this.
Thanks again for your patience.
Sofia,
To me, it seems that this issue is just not important enough for the management team to allocate any time to, rather than it being an issue of taking over six months of "fixing" by your engineers as you have stated. Since you cannot be bothered to invest the time to figure out how to fix this issue, let me give you the fix, completely free of charge.
The object that the contains the image of the badge can snap to the edge of the monitor that the office application is currently on rather than just sitting partially over the edge. When snapped in to place, the object frame is simply resized without scaling the image to give the same appearance of the sliding in and out of the office program.
That entire fix should take a single, decent programmer no more than a single day including testing and debugging. Now, all your management team has to do is allocate the hours to implementing this fix. Do you think that management can do that?
Craig
