Dropbox Passwords in browser for gmail; lets you select username, doesn't select password for it

Dropbox Passwords in browser for gmail; lets you select username, doesn't select password for it

Using Dropbox Passwords extension in chrome and firefox. When accessing Gmail, Dropbox Passwords just recently stopped populating the password field; it brings up the 'suggested password' dialogue as though I don't have a password, even though I selected the username from Dropbox Passwords.

Anyone experiencing this?

Hey there @sj2021, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Have you cleared your browser's cache since you first noticed this?

Also, does this happen on a specific device of yours or all?

Any additional information is more than welcome!

I have cleared all browsing data in both browsers, (firefox and chrome). And same happens on at least (3) different computers.

Hi @sj2021, sorry to jump in here!

The behavior you mentioned, only happens when you access Gmail, am I right?

Also, what platform are you encountering the problem on? (Windows, Mac, Android, iOS)

Desktops only. Windows 10 64bit.

And yes it only seems to be Gmail.com

Hello from me as well, @sj2021

As a test, can you please try to edit and re-enter your password for Gmail on Dropbox Passwords and let me know if the same issue persists, after refreshing your webpage?

I have done that already. By accident, actually. I originally mistakenly clicked the "use password" in the 'suggested password' dialogue box that came up and saved over my password.

Same results with a new password resave in Dropbox Passwords.

Thanks for responding everyone.

after some experimenting,

its seems that it's tied to the way that the extension is reacting to the specific password challenge page from a totally blank, cleared-cookies, logon page from gmail. Like so:

gmail sign in page.PNG

I have gmail set to clear cookies and logout of my gmail account when I close windows. But this function can be reproduced by signing out of gmail and then (in chrome browser) going to [Settings][Privacy and Settings] [Clear browsing data] and only checking the "Cookie and other site data" option when you hit the clear data. This just signs you out of sites.

OR you can use a browser that you have never logged on to Gmail with before.

Could any of you with a gmail account that has Dropbox Passwords extension installed try this and then try to log in Gmail from the blank sign in? I would love to know i'm not crazy. This seems like a bug that shouldn't be specific to my installation.
