My dropbox recently stopped launching on Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon. I've tried re-installing (using apt-get dropbox, apt-get nautilus-dropbox, and using the default GUI software installer) and performing an advanced re-install as indicated here. On dbus-launch dropbox start, I get:
tmac@tmac:~$ dbus-launch dropbox start

Dropbox isn't running!
Done!
tmac@tmac:~$ dropbox: load fq extension '/home/tmac/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-150.4.5000/PyQt5.QtDB
Any pointers would be appreciated! Thanks!
Hi @t-mac, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Have you made any system changes recently, such as the username on the device, or anything of the sort?
This will help me to assist further!

Hi @t-mac,
Everything, you posted, seems fine and according all posted the application should work. Don't get confused by "Dropbox isn't running"! This means, at that moment its initialization isn't fully completed, but on following line you can see "Done". 😉
Have you checked the status? If not, see what's the result from "dropbox status" command.
By the way, apt-get first argument is command, not a package name! If you run it in such a way, only error may be expected. Using "dbus-launch" is meaningless here.
I had a power outage recently that forced me to run the boot repair utility. I'm guessing that's when it stopped working. Thanks!
Thanks! dropbox status says dropbox isn't running.
As the Dropbox Linux desktop application is only officially supported on Ubuntu and Fedora, the amount of support we can provide is limited. I'll leave this thread open for other users to contribute their answers.

I managed to fix the problem with yet another remove -> restart -> reinstall sequence. Not sure why I had so much trouble. Thanks for your help!
