The Dropbox app will not open. Spins for a short time and stops. The same issue occurs
on 3 different pcs. I have uninstalled the program and that did not fix the issue. I have completely removed my Dropbox account and set it up again. I still can not open the app
Hi @drwillaby, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try an advanced reinstall of the app using the steps in this link?
Keep me updated with any progress!

I am on the basic plan but only have 3 computers attached. Things were working fine until about one week ago. I accidentally saved a folder that may have put me over my storage limit. I thought that might have been causing the issue but removing the large folder did not correct my problem. I have tried the more complete uninstall, I have gone to my registry and also removed every Dropbox file, and I have tried to get into Dropbox from all 3 computer systems. I also tried signing up under a different email address. However, I get the same problemon all computers, the app will not open.
Hey @drwillaby, sorry to jump in.
Can you please clarify what is not opening exactly? Is it the Dropbox folder that's giving you the loading circle?
Or does this happen when you click on the Dropbox icon in your system tray?

I have same problem with Windows 11. Dropbox app will not open via taskbar icon, desktop icon or direct from folder. Stopped working about a week ago. Reinstalled twice. Verified ports open. Still works from Apple devices. Dropbox 188.4.6302
The Dropbox app on my taskbar will not open.
@drwillaby and @gerwest, can either one of you send me a screenshot of where you’re clicking exactly, to make sure we’re on the same page?
Also, the Dropbox icon that you mention, was it created automatically by Dropbox, when you set up your apps, or did you copy/move/rename the original Dropbox folder shortcut?

Doesn't appear to be a shortcut issue...
Hey @gerwest - sorry to jump in here, but could you locate the Dropbox icon in your system tray and let us know if that one works?

Hi Walter.
Dropbox does not work via system tray either
I can end all Dropbox tasks in the Task Manager. And then when I try to run Dropbox, the blue wheel spins for a bit and and number of Dropbox tasks are started in the Task Manager. Dropbox is active. But the app does not open.
