Dropbox files different on different computers

When I log on to Dropbox at a work computer, the files shown are different than those when I log on to my home computer. There are more at work, and some of the files in my dropbox folder at home do not appear on the website. I thought this was supposed to be automatic... can anyone help?

I'm having this issue also. Files made on my Mac I finally found on my iPad, but they're in a strange location under a different name.

Lin, I created a help ticket and got immediate help.  I had to reset the computers to the dropbox account and resolved the issue.

Good luck!

Three of my computers connected to my one Dropbox account list different numbers of files and folders in the same account (as counted by Properties).  I have no idea which files and folders are being counted in some computers but not in others.  Shouldn't they all be exactly the same?

I've been using Dropbox for years and I totally rely on it.  But just lately, my many computers and devices are no longer connecting properly to dropbox.  If I add a file to DB on my work desktop, or create a folder there, it no longer appears in ANY of my other DB's on home or mobile devices.  Sometimes the desktop DB files will appear on my online DB but now even that has stopped happening.  Now I manually have to copy folders from my desktop DB to the online DB.  These are the same computers and devices that I have been using for well over 2 years and I haven't upgraded the OS or changed anything radically.  I've re-downloaded and re-installed the DB desktop app but that does nothing to help.  This morning I put some really important files that I need to work on tonight in my desktop DB at work and they are nowhere to be seen on any of my other devices and they are not in my online account.  DB has screwed me up so many times that I may need to abandon it for some other cloud solution.  If anyone has a suggestion, I would be happy to try it.

I don't see any answers to these problems. where do I see answers.

I have similar problems.  I think I have more than one password (different on different computers), but I can't find my original password, which I think is the most up to date.

Later that day   -   I reset passwords on both computers, but didn't solve the problem - I had access to older files, but not the latest ones.

Later still - had to uninstall Dropbox (but first copied everything because this had the most up to date files, but I had lost the password to) from computer 1, because computer 2 had the most recent password.  Then reinstalled Dropbox on computer 1, which solved the problem.

However, I am still uncertain of the simplest method to change passwords on both computers if I have to do this again. Seems a little clumsy to have to uninstall and reinstall Dropbox.  Maybe I just sign in to the Dropbox website from both computers with new password - but change password on the most up to date version first, then use that password for the other one.

But doesn't this leave an earlier version of Dropbox with an outdated password in the cloud? - seems like a waste of space if it does.

Hi Stephen, Robert, Gary - have you tried Elise's suggestions?

Also, please completely uninstall Dropbox from your computer, download the latest version on www.dropbox.com/downloading and install it again. Should help.

Thanks!

Ed, I'd be willing to try Elise's suggestion if I knew what it meant:  "I had to reset the computers to the dropbox account and resolved the issue."

What does "reset the computers to the dropbox account" mean, and how is it done?
