I have the same issue. Except Dropbox won't allow itself to be thrown in the trash as it thinks it is open. Can't force it closed as it's not on the list... I'm running Catalina off an external SSD.

Could you try rebooting your computer and then uninstalling

I am facing similar issues with getting Dropbox v87.4.138 working on Mac OS X Catalina 10.15.2. 

At startup, Dropbox comes up with an error below -

I have already tried the advanced reinstall procedure here without any luck.

Hello,

 

I have recently updated my iMac and am having the same issue. I did try to do the advance reinstall but it does not work. The app opens and crash immediately. Please do assist. I need dropbox for work purposes. Thank you!!!

Hello there!

I hope you are keeping safe.

In my case it was the anti-virus that was causing the problem. Have you got any anti-virus or any such software that blocking Dropbox?

Hey @njani, thanks for nudging us on this thread. 

 

Simply for troubleshooting purposes, could you try temporarily disabling/closing your security software or antivirus that you have running?

Hello I am having the same issues as Conduit - cannot move the app into the trash (says it is open), and cannot force quit, it does not show up on the app, thus i cannot uninstall in order to reinstall.  suggestions?

Out of curiosity, have you tried rebooting your computer and then following these steps to uninstall the desktop app?
