Dropbox no longer capturing screenshots

Dropbox no longer capturing screenshots

flobin
Helpful | Level 5

Dropbox has this feature where it can automatically capture your screenshots and generate a public link. I've been using that for a while, as I think it's quite handy. However, a while ago, Dropbox stopped capturing my screenshots. I'm not sure why. I still have the setting turned on in my Dropbox preferences. I've tried turning it (both the setting and Dropbox) off and on again, to no avail.

I'm currently using Dropbox v135.5.4173 on macOS Big Sur (11.6) on a 2019 Macbook pro.

What can I do to turn screenshot capture back on?

You can try navigating to the Utilities folder and from there to the Screenshot app on your Mac @flobin

From there, click on Options and select desktop.

Hey @flobin, thanks for using Dropbox Capture and for posting today!

Can you please double-check the version of Dropbox you have installed on your computer? Are you sure you see 135.5.4173?

Also, would you mind checking the version of the Dropbox Capture app you have installed as well?

Keep me posted.

Hi Hannah, thank you for the reply. I have Dropbox version 135.5.4177 right now. I don't have Dropbox Capture (haven't actually heard of this). Is that what I need?

Hey, @flobin, Sorry for interrupting your conversation!

Keep in mind that the version would either be: xxx.3.xxx or xxx.4.xxx.

Do you mind double checking and letting us know?

Hi @flobin, it looks like you're running the beta version.

To install our latest stable version, visit this page and switch ‘Early releases’ to Off. Afterwards, re-download the app from here.

Hi @Jay,

I've unchecked the early releases and re-downloaded the Dropbox app. I now have v134.4.4115. However, screenshots are still not being saved to Dropbox. Maybe this is a fault in macOS, rather than Dropbox?

Hey @flobin, sorry to be jumping in here, but could you check if your screenshots are being saved to your desktop?

Since you’re using a Mac computer, your screenshots must be set to save to your desktop for this feature to work.

Hi @Walter, screenshots are currently being saved to my Documents folder. How do I set them to be saved to the desktop?
