Dropbox not opening properly

Dropbox not opening properly

I'm running Windows 10 and have Dropbox installed. When I try to open the application some of the buttons in the tray doesnt work i,e preferences. 

I have to reboot PC for the buttons to work. 

And sometimes its freezing.

 

I have reinstalled Dropbox and did an advanced uninstall as well. Is there anything that can be done?

Hi there @skinku01, sorry to hear about this and thanks for letting us know about the troubleshooting steps you've attempted so far.

 

Can you clarify your computer's exact OS version and the version of the desktop app you're noticing this on?

 

Also, when you say the button don't work, are they not responding at all or they cause your computer or the desktop app to crash?

 

Any additional information is more than welcome!

The machine is running windows 10 21h1
When I try to access preferences nothing works until I reboot

Do you have any security programs like antivirus or firewalls running on your computer perhaps @skinku01?

 

Have you updated your computer's OS at all recently by the way?

Machine is running bullguard av and not sure if machine is due an update

Thanks for the additional info, @skinku01, and sorry for jumping in. 

 

Do you mind disabling your antivirus, just temporarily, so that we can see if the issue persists then?

 

If it does, please reinstall the Dropbox app once more, and then try to access the preferences again.
