Re: Dropbox on linux randomly logs off and need relink

Dropbox on linux randomly logs off and need relink

Hello,

I've installed Dropbox desktop app to my fedora 27 workstation and upon reboot I'm randomly propted to log-in to my Dropbox account to link the computer as if it is the first time. On my Dropbox account I then see the same device multipple time under Security \ Devices with the same name, IP address and so on.

How does Dropbox detect that my device needs to be registered ?

Try to deselect the option for Dropbox to automatically startup along with the boot of your operating system.

What happens if you then start up Dropbox manually after the system has stably completed booting.

Does it still ask you for the Dropbox credentials again ?

I suspect there might be instances/moments while booting that your Fedora has not finalised the network connection settings but the

Dropbox app has already loaded and is attempting a login attempt - therefore asking you for your info again.

p.s. I dont use Fedora ... just instinctive answer

Let me know if this helps 😉

Hi @lburgazzoli,

Welcome to our community!

Hmmm... This sounds like unusual behavior of the Dropbox desktop app. Could you please as a first step, re-install the Dropbox app?

Let us know if this resolves the issue.

Thanks in advance.

I did try multiple times but no, it does not solve the issue. How does dropbox recognize a new device ?

Hey @lburgazzoli, thanks for reaching out here for advice, let me briefly follow-up on what seems to have fixed the issue for you, so as to leave this here for future reference.

As all other options didn't work for you, starting afresh following these troubleshooting steps (hence wiping any previous traces causing this discrepancy), has amended this issue.
