Dropbox reinstallation problem

Dropbox reinstallation problem

Hello, for several days dropbox was closing suddenly asking to be restarted and therefore for several days it no longer synchronized the folder that is on my pc. Today I uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox and during the reinstall I configured the folder on the pc as a folder to sync. Unfortunately Dropbox doesn't seem to accept that folder and asks me to rename it. If I accept he renames the old folder and creates a new one where he would like to download all the files but I want to use the folder on the pc as I have updated several files that are not updated with Dropbox. How can I tell Dropbox that he must use the folder on his pc (which he has always used) and must not rename it?
Thank you.

Don't.

Instead, rename the folder to Dropbox_Old or similar and reinstall Dropbox, selecting the location you want for your (new) Dropbox folder. As soon as the installation is complete Dropbox will start to download your files. Exit the Dropbox application so syncing stops. Move your files from Dropbox_Old to the new Dropbox folder. When the move is complete, and not before, re-launch the Dropbox application.

At this point Dropbox will begin indexing all of your files. This process will take a while, especially if you have a lot of data to go through. During this time it may say that files are uploading or downloading, but it's only transferring comparison data and any changes that it find. Be patient and LET IT WORK.

Thanks for the answer, I will keep this solution as a last resort as it is too long and unfortunately the disk is not big enough to copy to another folder and I would be forced to connect an additional disk. Thanks again we hope there are other faster solutions.

There really isn't. If Dropbox isn't accepting the current folder with your files already in it, your only option is going to be the process above.
