Every hour I get a popup that says :Dropbox MacUpdate quit unexpectedly -EVERY HOUR FOR THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS !! Why???? Why??? HELP!!
Re/ your questions
1) In the 'Account tab, it says "Your account has 2.8GB of storage", so I guess I have an account
2) I don't see anywhere that says 'sync'> Where do I find that?
3) And where do I find the 'dropbox folder' you mention?
Can you please send us a screenshot of your preferences window, James?

HERE IT IS
Thanks, James!
The 'sync' tab is the last one on the right. It should show you the location of the Dropbox folder there.

I found 'sync' somehow, from a window that popped up unexpectedly. Then sync said "where do you want to put the dropbox folder?". I clicked on putting it in my Applications folder, where I know I could find it. But then when I went to the Applications folder, the dropbox folder WAS NOT THERE???. Then another window that popped up unexpectedly said the dropbox folder was in LIBRARY/I-CLOUD STORAGE. But then when I went to LIBRARY, there WAS NO I-CLOUD STORAGE there!! VERY frustrating!!!! So help, how do I find the dropbox folder?? And why do I need it? What is the dropbox folder for? I have the dropbox app and when I click on it all the files in dropbox show up. By the way, I have a MAC computer, Is the causing a problem with following your instructions? Are your instructions for a PC, not a MAC. Help!!!???
Thanks for the info, it seems that you're running the newer version of the Dropbox desktop application, where you Dropbox folder is located in the CloudStorage location.
If you can't find the Dropbox folder in Locations in the Finder sidebar, it can be restored by following these steps:
The Dropbox app doesn't store your files inside it, the files are actually located in the Dropbox folder. The app runs in the background to keep the files in your Dropbox folder and the Dropbox site synced and up-to-date.

OK, Now a folder with the name Dropbox (2023-09-17 1/23 PM) YAY!!! -finally
It only has one item in it. But when I click the dropbox icon in the top menu bar, there are dozens of items in the dropdown menu, some from years ago, that I don't think are associated with dropbox, but they are all there when I click the dropbox icon in the menubar. Any idea why?
Jim
If you click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar, what is the current status of the app in the bottom left?

It says "Everything is up to date"
Just to confirm, when you click the globe icon on the Dropbox desktop application window, do the files on the site match those currently in the Dropbox folder in Finder?
