Every-time I unselect a folder for sync it reselects

Every-time I unselect a folder for sync it reselects

Hey all,
This is a problem that won't go away. I don't want to sync my downloads folder to Dropbox.
I go into preferences and unselect it, update. But then next time I check it reselects again.

I minor enough thing but still pretty annoying.
If anyone has suggestions that'd be great.

Thanks

Hi @JonAverill,

You cannot remove system controlled user folders (like Downloads). Actually you can but the environment will restore them short after that. That's what you have observed. 🙂

If you want to keep Dropbox folder content to the cloud only, don't "Backup" it (as you are doing), but create a new folder into your Dropbox (may be with the same name) and move your Downloads folder content to there (the same for any other such folder, if you want). In such a way you will be able deselect the folder without environment recreates it (and accordingly Dropbox selects it back). 😉 That's it.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure that's correct.
This issue only happens on my Macbook Pro. My iMac and old Macbook do not have this issue. You unselect and it works fine.

Thanks though

Are you using "Dropbox Backup" there? 🧐 Or you just deselected a regular folder (not system monitored).

Hi @JonAverill, how are you today?

Do you notice this kind of behavior with specifically your "Mac" folder, are each folder you try to unselect?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there.

Thanks Megan,

Yeah it's just the download folder. Once you unselect it it keeps reselecting.
Not a huge deal at all, just would be nice to figure it out.

Sorry to jump in here, @JonAverill!

Have you tried to quit the Dropbox app, restart your computer and then relaunch it, to see if that helps?
