Folder names on This PC are duplicating

Hi,

I'm on Windows 11 and am using Dropbox version 163.4.5456. After installing Dropbox, the names of the folders in the This PC screen are all displaying as "Dropbox". PFA screenshots.

PS: Not sure if this helps but this is happening only for folders that are within the local Dropbox folder. When I tried adding the shortcut of folders that are outside the local Dropbox folder, it's displaying the correct folder name. Screenshot below.

Please help! Thanks in advance!

Hey @gsmrn, sorry to hear about this.

Could you clarify if the desktop app is 'up to date' or still syncing in your taskbar?

Also, there seems to be a notification there, could you let us know what it reads?

Keep us posted!

Hey Walter,

Thanks for replying. The desktop app is up to date. The screenshot was taken after I uninstalled, downloaded and re-installed Dropbox. Also, the notification was about upgrading to Dropbox Plus and not anything related to this.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

G

Hi @gsmrn, I'd assume you have tried restarting your device, right?

Hi Megan,

Yes I have. This has been happening for a few weeks...

Thanks for replying!

Also, I'm not sure if this will help in any way but I recently updated my OS from Windows 10 to Windows 11. It wasn't a fresh install. Things were fine when I was on Windows 10.

Thanks in advance, people!

Cheers,

G

Hi all,

I just wanted to update that since I was unable to find a solution, I ended up uninstalling Dropbox. I'm temporarily using another service (Zoho WorkDrive) until Dropbox fixes this issue.

Thanks.

Cheers,

G
