How to use a download manager with Dropbox

My internet is spotty and so I use a download manager to ensure that the file actually makes it onto my computer.

Is there a DL manager you recommend? Is there a way to do it using Free Download Manager? --when I attempt to put in my username and password it says access is denied whenever trying to download

I had the same problem, tried to download the 700MB file for 10 times without any success.

Here is what I did to solve this problem:

1) I created the Dropbox folder in my DB account and saved the shared file in that folder. (You have to choose "Save to my Dropbox" option)
2) I installed the DB client: https://www.dropbox.com/install
3) For the DB folder on my computer I chose an option "Selective Sync" and marked only the folder on my DB account, where I saved the shared file, because I don't want all other DB files on my computer. Here the link how to do "Selective Sync":

https://help.dropbox.com/sync/selective-sync-overview
You can pause and resume your syncing: https://help.dropbox.com/sync/pause-resume

Hope this will help. Works for me so far:))

Goto  file’s page that you want to download

Copy browser link

Goto IDM

File->Add New Download

Paste the link

change https://www. To dl.

And finally change dl=0 to dl=2

Press download button.

Sample:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4yu0frrc4fbf2br/SQLBackup%20Mirmohad.rar?dl=0#

change to => dl.dropbox.com/s/4yu0frrc4fbf2br /SQLBackup%20Mirmohad.rar?dl=2#

The Dropbox client *is* a download manager - you dont need a third party one, the Dropbox client handles dodgy internet connections just fine.

If a third party download manager wants to support Dropbox, the API is publicly available. Supporting them is not the job of Dropbox, they need to support Dropbox.

Well if it is a download mananger I still receive network errors, so it's not good enough. It needs to keep retrying and get the job done like the DLM I am trying to use with DB link although DB does not seem to allow links to be copied and downloaded from other manager - this seems to be an issue with DB not my manager not supporting DB.

Since you do not understand the problem, try to follow this scenario. It would be great if you could shed light on the users and frankly hundreds of other users simple request.
You have spent the money on a DB business account so that you could put some large medium size files up to share with friends.
Your friends do not have DB accounts but could sign up for the free account and install the DB client. They get 2G space allotment.
You put 3 5G files into dropbox and you want to share them with a friend. They do not have a DB account and have a regular internet connection, how would you suggest they download your file? You have tried to share the link with them. You ave tried many different browsers, pc's and from many different locations across Canada. The DL fails 90% of the time. If they switch to HSpeed internet on the same PC's, browsers, internet locations, it is successful 98% of the time. Yes there has been LOTS of troubleshooting from our corp IT with all the DB support resources that they have.....It is not possible using DB in over 90% of the attempts.

FYI, This is acknowledged by DB support and they have been working on my ticket for over two months.

Hence the above request and the numerous other threads in this community for the same problem.

Looking to avoid the regular pontifications from people who either do not read or understand the questions then provide answers that are either incomplete or have nothing to do with the question.

Eagerly awaiting an answer to resolve THIS DB, life long problem.

Thanks.

Indeed.  I am trying for the 8th time today to download a 300 MB file.  With no resume support, no doubt it will fail again. If Dropbox is a download manager then it is the worst one I have ever come across.  I will certainly not be using it myself. I have already complained to the company that forces me to use it as its only download source, and will also be complaining to the manufacturer of my device who in turn use that company to provide their hardware.

0/10 dropbox- you have forced me to spend an entire day on something that should have taken minutes.

6 hours later and my download has again failed at 319 of 332 mb.  I would happily throttle any representitive of dropbox if they were in front of me now.  I am sure to share this with everyone that I know.  An entire day wasted and I still can't get my files.  Furious does not even start to describe how I am feeling right now.
