Hi, I launch Dropbox.app on my mac (monterey 12.6.1) but it does not appear in the menu bar, nor on the Dock. I re-installed it just now and am running version 177.4.5399 (as before!). What have I done wrong?

Hey @BarryJ, let's jump right into this!

You should be seeing two Dropbox icons on your device: one being the little Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi, and one on your desktop.

Based on what you described, it sounds like you're missing both of them, right? It'll sound trivial, but have you tried re-starting your Mac at all?

Keep me posted!

Hi Megan

Thanks for replying.

Yes, I tried a full re-boot (off, and start-up, not a 'Restart'), and still no joy!

I can access my files through a browser, but I prefer to use the app.

Since I can access the files through the browser, I think this means that the connection has enough security. Is that right?

Any ideas?

Thanks again,

Barry

Hi Megan,

Sorry I forgot to reply to

"Based on what you described, it sounds like you're missing both of them, right?"

Yes, indeed. It's invisible, and I can only tell it's running by looking at its process in Activity Monitor.

Thanks again,

Barry

Hi @BarryJ, thanks for all the info!

Is it possible that you recently upgraded your OS? Can you also try an advanced re-install using the steps mentioned here?

Hi Mega,

Sorry for the tardy reply.  I've been unwell, but am fine now!

"Is it possible that you recently upgraded your OS?"

No, I didn't.

"Can you also try an advanced re-install using the steps mentioned here?"

I will, but haven't had a chance yet. Thanks for your help. I'll get back with a response asap.

Thanks again,

Barry
