Just installed the BETA version of the Sierra yesterday (so please don't flame me and say it's all my fault) - I'm just trying to be helpful.
I click on the dropbox client icon in the menu bar and select "Preferences" (brings up the "General" window) - if I select the Network icon I immediately get the rotating pinwheel of doom (rPOD), the application starts burning CPU, and shows up as "Not Responding" in the activity monitor - necessitating a force quit.
Dropbox version 5.3.23
Macbook Pro (mid 2014, retina)
Firewall off, no antivirus.
Any suggestions? Other than: don't install beta versions of macOS...
Cheers, Jon

That really about sums it up. 😉
I wouldn't particularly expect to see a compatible client rolled out much before Sierra is finalised for release, simply because it's a moving target and a lot can change between now and then.
Dropbox version 5.3.23 itself is the current Beta client available for user testing and feedback.
The Dev Team love feedback and Beta client bug reports are always welcome in the appropriate Desktop Client Builds thread.
Thanks.
I'm running macOS 10.12 (Sierra) and Dropbox 6.4.14 and having no problems at all.
I am using Dropbox for Business v8.3.18 and I can't seem to link to the Corporate side. It launches Okay ... I get a Link Code, but it fails to prompt for the Link Code in Drop Box once I have the Link Code. It's just spinning away.
Remember John that not only are you running a beta version of OSx you are also running a beta version of Dropbox there.... Any version of Dropbox which is a in the forma X.3.Y (i.e. a 3 as the second number) is beta.
Try updating to official versions.

I'm not complaining ... just sharing my experience. Well aware of the challenges of running Beta code. 😉
I installed MacOS Sierra Beta a few days ago, and everything seemed to be ok...
But today I noticed that the Dropbox wheel has been turning for a few hours saying it's "Indexing" and "Uploading resources" but folders I added a couple days ago to Dropbox from other computers aren't showing up on this computer. Dropbox is running/syncing fine on the other computers not running sierra.
I tried quitting Dropbox, and then restarting the computer, but I'm still having the same issue over an hour later (folders still haven't shown up, and it's still "indexing").
Just for reference: this is on a Mid 2011 iMac, running Dropbox v8.4.21.
DB quits after running about 5 minutes, every time. Can't get it to sync at all. Running Sierra (16A320, latest as of today), and 10.3.24 of DB (yes, I know...beta * beta = problems). But hoping by reporting the bugs they get fixed 😉
Edit: yes, DB has a problem:
SandboxViolation: dbaccessperm(2811) System Policy: deny file-write-data /Library/Application Support/com.apple.TCC/TCC.db
Violation: System Policy: deny file-write-data /Library/Application Support/com.apple.TCC/TCC.db
Process: dbaccessperm [2811]
Path: /Library/DropboxHelperTools/Dropbox_u501/dbaccessperm
Wow getting closer to Sierra being let loose on an unsuspecting public....eeek
Hopefully the DBers can get these bugs fixed up and a stable version out soon. DB is important enough that I'll wait on installing Sierra on my main machine until this gets worked out.
