Is it possible to have the same folder in two locations?

Is it possible to have the same folder in two locations?

I was wondering if there was an option to have the same folder placed in several locations, so for example, if I were to add a file to one folder it would be changed in the other locations as well.

That's the entire purpose of Dropbox.

Download and install the Dropbox client on any computer you want your files to sync to. Once linked to your account, anything you add to the Dropbox folder on one system will be automatically synced to all the others.

No, that's not what I mean. I understand that if I add a file to a folder from my computer it can be downloaded from the same account from another computer.

What I'm wondering is, if one folder can have multiple paths. So for example, I have access to folder 1 through folder A, folder B, and folder C. Sort of like a "short cut" option that mirrors what happens in its copy.

I know sounds like a weird question...

Not a weird question since I have the same one Nadine 😉 Linked folders are neat for many reasons, though right now I'm thinking of one specific usecase for us:

We are having some problems with how access control is implemented and linked folders would possibly help us mitigate the issue. (We would like to set up different tree structures for our different functions, but sharing select folders between them; We want everyone to have their folders show up in logical places within the "tree structure".)

Dropbox does not have such functionality.

Are there any plans to create this functionality? It would be incredibly helpful to have relevant materials for a project all in one project folder and also the materials available under a topic category for future use in other projects.

@isa_tsc, Dropbox doesnt ever release roadmaps I'm afraid, but, it isnt something I could see happening within the main software, no.

It is something I could however see coming within Paper in that you can have 1 document in multiple places linked via Paper documents,

This might be what you (or other wondering) are looking for. Junction points. With this solution you can make files accessible by several paths.  It uses standart Windows tools.
