Is it safe to delete files from my Dropbox folder, without disabling Computer backup?

Is it safe to delete files from my Dropbox folder, without disabling Computer backup?

Hi - up to this point I have been having Dropbox files online sync with my PC, which was super helpful in accessing/updating docs in File Explorer, etc. However, I no longer have a need to access these documents, and they seem to be taking up 35GB of hard drive space. If I delete these files from my local computer, I just wanted to make sure that it was also not deleting the actual files on the Dropbox site itself? I tried to delete a file on my computer as a test and see if it would also delete on the Dropbox site, but since I only have a Basic account now (I used to have a Plus account while I was actively working with the files), it's not synching files at all due to the size, so not sure that test would even work to check.

Does this make sense? Just wanted a sanity check before I did anything I'd regret... Thank you!

Hi @ginab1, welcome to our Community!

It makes sense, absolutely. Essentially the best thing you'd need to do is disable Computer backup and allow for the content back to your device.

That should free up some space to your Dropbox account. Want to give it a go, and let me know if you have any questions?
