LAN Sync and VPN

LAN Sync and VPN

Hi,

We have a number of often-remote users who need to be on our company VPN for a variety of reasons. For when they ARE in the office we have them use LAN Sync to speed things up, but I wonder if this is counter-productive from a VPN. We split tunnels, so going to dropbox.com shouldn't touch our gateway, but I wonder if the LAN Sync feature is trying to reach out to other VPN users. I couldn't find any tech/white papers on this.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi @jscooper22, thanks for posting.

In order for LAN sync to work, the computers would need to be on the same subnet, or broadcast address. The LAN should also have access to TCP and uDP on port 17500.

Depending on how the VPN works, LAN sync may or may not work as intended.

If you have any more queries, feel free to message back.
