Long log in time when booting up

Long log in time when booting up

Brasco
Explorer | Level 3

Hello I have used 27% of my dropbox capacity. Each and every time I log on to my computer. dropbox is set to LOG IN AT STARTUP.

Lately Dropbox is taking about 10-15 minites to log in completely.

At one time this was taking about 2 minites after computor booted up.

Is there something that could be done to fix or speed things up again?

Thank you

Hi @Brasco, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

What device are you running and what OS version?

Do you have many programs loading when the machine boots up?

This will help me to assist further!

Thank you for your reply. I’m running OS Catalina 10.15.7.
As far as too many programs opening, there are the same number as when it was running perfectly.

Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

No none at all. I must stress that all is the same as when Dropbox worked perfectly. There are no changes made that would say yes, that was it.

Thanks, could you try reinstalling the app via this link to see if this helps?

I downloaded the link you sent me.
No difference in performance. Still about 10 min before Dropbox comes on after comp is rebooted.

Hi @Brasco, is there any chance that your desktop app is syncing more than 300k files at the moment? If yes, then this could be one reason why this is happening.

There is a 300k soft limit, depending on the machine itself.

If this is the case, are you able to use selective sync to prevent entire folders from syncing to the site to see if this helps?
