Apps and Installations

I have Dropbox on several machines. I LOVE to have it on my Linux machine, because I can add, edit, remove files and folders however I want. I do it in the air on airplane. No problems.
When I connect to a internet connection, everything is updated just fine.
I am working in a nuclear powerplant where, of course, there is no internet connection. So then I want to work with files in offline mode.
But on my phone, an Samsung with Android, I cannot add a new file and add it again, I cannot create a folder at all in offline mode. WHY should this be so difficult when it works just fine on computer. It must be a matter of updating the folders in the same way as on my computer.
I have written to the support several times, but get the answer it is just not possible...
Welcome aboard the Community, @RobotPsykolog!
It’s true that in general, you need an internet connection on your mobile device in order to take specific actions on the Dropbox mobile app (the app mostly works like your web account and not the desktop app, which creates a local Dropbox folder on your device).
However, since you’ve mentioned that you’ve also contacted our support team about this, do you mind sending over your ticket number?
Let me know when you’ve got more updates.

Because it's not. Nancy describes why above. The mobile apps don't work the same as the Dropbox application on your computer. On mobile devices there is no local Dropbox folder that syncs like the Dropbox folder on your computer. The mobile apps just allow you to see the files in your account online. In order to open a file you need to be connected to the Internet so it can be downloaded, or you need to mark the file as Available Offline so it's stored locally on your device. This is not the same process as syncing files and most functions that you can do in the desktop applications are not available in the mobile apps. They just weren't designed to work the same way.
Thanks for the ticket number, Bjorn!
I’ve traced it in our system and made sure your feedback has been passed on to our team, as well.
If you need something else though, give us a nudge.
