Reinstalled Dropbox and Dropbox folder created in wrong location

Reinstalled Dropbox and Dropbox folder created in wrong location

I had to reinstall the Dropbox app as it was not synching. My computer has two drives, a small SSD on C and a hard disk on D I have always had my Dropbox folder on drive D. After I reinstalled the app, I discovered that it created a new Dropbox folder on the small drive C and placed most of the files in the cloud, which I also did not want. It appears I was not given the choice of where to place this, or if it did, I missed it. I tried to tell Dropbox to move the folder back to Drive D, from the Preferences > Synch screen, but it errors as there is already a Dropbox folder in place. I do not want to delete this D folder, as this is where my files live, and I am not sure the new Dropbox folder on C is complete, as the Properties > Size (not size on disc) are not the same when comparing the "old" Dropbox folder on D and the new folder on C.

I don't want the Dropbox folder on C. How do I get Dropbox to use the existing folder on D so I can delete the folder on drive C. This is a real mess. I hope you can help.

Hi @JoeL11, thanks for messaging the Community!

At the end of the installation process, you'll see the option to change the default location of the Dropbox folder.

If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try an advanced reinstall of the app using the steps in this link?

Step 11 in the Windows section will help you select the correct Dropbox folder on your D drive.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know!
