I just completed a Mac migration & fouled up my dropbox sitch pretty good. I found a post by someone with a similar problem that got resolved by advice from Jay. I'm stuck trying to follow that advice though. Jay suggested an advanced reinstall with a link to instructions. I followed the instructions, but am stuck at the first line copied to terminal. When I try to enter my admin password nothing happens. In fact it won't accept any further entry. (There's no blinking cursor.)
Re: my specific problem- my dropbox folder appears on the new computer, but is not updated, and won't update because my "dropbox is full". Apparently I got set up with a new 2 Gig max.. (It created a new empty folder, but added "old" to my folder. I changed the name of the new folder and removed "old" from my folder. My basic account is 7 Gig max., which is plenty for my needs. (2 Gig is not).
Dropbox still works fine on my other computer.
Hey @ja66, thanks for joining our Community and sorry to see you're having trouble.
Would you mind giving us a bit more info on what happened after the migration?
If I understand correctly, you reinstalled the Dropbox app and a new Dropbox folder was created and your older one was renamed to Dropbox (old), right?
Also, if you set up Dropbox and saw that your account was full at 2 GB, when you actually have 7 GB, you might have signed in with the wrong email address, so I'd suggest you check that as well.
Keep me posted.
