For many programs - I'll use Quicken as an example - the data file apparently no longer resides on my desktop. When I try to back it up to my desktop it goes to: C:users\(username)\Dropbox\my pc xxxxx\desktop\Quicken (data file name). Having Dropbox involved seems to slow down the Quicken program significantly. How do I stop Dropbox from involving itself without my taking affirmative action to save/copy a file to it? Thank you for your help.
Hey @damonroad, thanks for posting on our Community and happy Monday!
It sounds like you may have enabled the computer backup feature which lets you move your computer's OS folders like Desktop, Downloads and Documents to Dropbox.
If that's the case indeed, you can disable it using the steps outlined here.
I hope this helps and please keep me posted.

When I attempt to backing up Quicken I receive the following: Unable to Open Source File. Quicken supprot had me close all Drop Box opended files and then to backup Quicken and it worked. Quicken supports claims the issue is with DropBox. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
Hey there, @ericb1, how are you today?
Is the content you're trying to open in a specific path, such as downloads, documents or desktop by any chance?
Feel free to also send me a screenshot of the error you receive on your end, so I can have a look.
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there.
