Hi Marty,
To clarify the issue, you mean that your running a Windows 7 RDP on a Windows 10 host. While running the Windows 7 session one of the notifications from the Windows 10 machine underneath intrudes on top of the RDP session window?
Is this correct?
Many thanks.
No, both hosts were Windows 7. The vexing part was that the big notification slide-out was happening on the *host*, and the way it overlaid the client (in fullscreen no less) made it appear it was on the client... so I spent a while trying to Debug the client dropbox only to find that the host Dropbox was the one actually throwing the messages.
That the new notifications *look* like the kind you'd see in Windows 10 made me wonder if some app or update had enabled this new style somehow but no, it was just the host Dropbox with this custom notification and designed to appear atop all other windows. Once I disabled "Notify me about... Synced Files" on the host the notification finally went away (I'd already disabled that on the client in my efforts above).
That this was in RDP was notable since it was extra-confusing - it certainly looked like it was popping up on the client and clicking it didn't change the context to the host or anything. I've never seen anything like it with other apps (which, if they pop a notification on the host, don't interrupt a full-screen client RDP session like this).
The new large black cartoon box notifications are terribly disruptive. How can we return them to what they were a couple of weeks ago?
On my team's computers and mine, they show up in the lower left corner, they are large black boxes with large white font and usually the person's initials are on a pink or magenta coin.
these boxes interfere with our work on our documents such as excel or word...
it is geting so bad we're wondering if we should switch to another provider.
has anyone figured out how to control the size and color of these?

You can't. The appearance of notifications from your OS are typically controlled by your OS. I'm still trying to get confirmation on whether or not this was a Dropbox change.
Me too - I have an entire staff wanting to know "what's that" and "how do I stop it". Compaints from 3 states - totally in the way when working in Win7 - right over the save button when working in other software. What happend to the small faded box that did not interfere with actual work??
It was definitely a Dropbox change, and it's freaking annoying. Not only does it not match the native Windows 7 notifications in design anymore, it doesn't even go away without being manually dismissed.
The way we work is changing. Share and discover new ways to work smarter with Dropbox in our community.
