I'd suggest that you try a more advanced reinstall of the Dropbox app, to see if that helps.

That did not work and DB still fails to work on MacOS Monterey

Hi!

Solved itself with Monterey 12.0.1. Strange, because on my Macbook M1 it wasn't a problem at all.

If it happens again, I'll try the advanced install.
