Thanks for all the hints, but none of the community recommendations helped and Dropbox support did not want to help me because my mail address was different than the one with which I have registered here.

My solution is now to use iCloud Drive and I deleted all files from my Dropbox account.

Hi,

Since yesterday Dropbox can’t load at startup, giving the following error dialog: 

"Dropbox cannot start / Dropbox ran into a connection issue"

I can only access my folders online and the desktop app is not running anymore.

 

 I’ve already re-install three times the app in my desktop and nothing has changed. It appears the same error.

 

Could you help me?

Hi Hannah,

I'm quite disappointed that you closed the ticket and marked it as "solved" whereas it is not solved!
As I wrote in my E-mail I described to you that I only found a work-around to shift the dropbox starting problems! But that's definitely not a solution!

More over I mentioned the path problems in the dropbox-error.txt file. Unfortunately you did not comment on this! Why?

I'm sorry but in this sense I do not agree with your support and I gave a "2" as feedback.

Can you also try an advanced reinstall, in order to resolve this? 

 

Also, @RSTurbo, keep in mind that even if the email is marked as "solved" you should still be able to respond back, and express or ask us anything. Can you try to respond back to @Hannah's email, and ask for more info, if you wish?

I had the same issue. If I clicked on get help, it popped up a log-in requesting a google login. This was quite sinister and smacked of a password scraping scam.

 

I didn't log in. Also, if you hover over dropboxer.net, there's a link to an email address like "ice-sculpture-review" with a dropbox.com domain.

So this happened on Bootup, after a very short delay, i could see that my dropbox was all working as expected. The menu helper was loaded and fully operational, and the desktop app was as i expected.

However, I did notice that two alias links were being saved to my desktop during boot-up. These were shortcuts to the Calibri font.

I removed the font using fontbook (macOS)

I deleted the asias.

NOw no more strange popup boxes associated with dropbox. 

All of this started happening after the recent update to the mac desktop app.

dropboxer.net is not a dropbox domain but the email link is s dropbox.com email.

There is something very strange. I would be strightont the developers who wrote the update.
