Smart Sync issues; Selective Sync default is "online-only" ! WHY?

I have set smart-sync default to local. NOPE 'cause when I select an existing folder in selective sync it starts out AS AN ONLINE-ONLY folder. Hey the client even tells me it will do this, thanks! not. WHY. GOD. WHY?! I want this folder synced fully or I would not have selected it!!

 

Now I have to also manually set folders to local in the finder. Which, because the client is probably struggling with the file load, it doesn't set them all properly, or late, or just removes the checkmark completely.. I have no proper realtime feedback and no assurance. So next morning what has been downloaded and what has not will be a great surprise, a feature that the users here will surely appreciate.

 

Has this been tested with people whom actually make money? With multi terabytes of data in lots of (large) files? While the client is syncing heavily? WHY this stupid selective sync default?

 

Please let me turn this annoying unsmart-sync feature OFF, it's also bound to confuse users. We have plenty of local HDD space.. It is a great feature to push users to another storage solution though..

 

At LEAST PLEASE set a selected selective-sync folder default to " local" instead of online-only, or give us a choice. This has not been thought through.

Hi modi, welcome to Dropbox Community!
 
To my understanding you are trying to opt out Smart Sync. If this is the case, depending on the plan you are on you can follow the instructions of the Help Center article here.
 
If you are on a Business plan and you are the Admin, keep in mind that some of your team members may have connected a work and personal account. If you opt out your team from the system extension, team members won't be able to use Smart Sync on any personal devices (or personal accounts) where they're also signed in to their Business account.
 
Additionally, if you are trying to sync your files locally you can follow the steps here

Ummmm. Even I can answer this. Norah did not even answer the question. The problem still exists and I agree with the original post. It is stupid that DB does not fix this "feature."

Hey there (@Lighting1), while I haven’t followed the discussion from the beginning (& I’m unsure at this point where the issue lies for the OP), I’ll do my best to check back on any issues you may be facing on your end from this point on. I’d appreciate it if you could clarify for me whether you’ve set your files to be Online-only ☁️ or you’ve removed them in your Selective Sync settings.
