Migrate your personal account to your Dropbox Business team

You can easily convert your personal Dropbox into an account on a Dropbox Business team. But first, there are a couple of things you should check:

  • Verify that all of the files and folders that you want to migrate are in your Dropbox
  • Remove any files or folders that you don't want to migrate to a Dropbox Business team
  • Once you’re ready to join:

    1. Ask the admin on the Dropbox Business team you want to join to send a team invite.
    2. Check your inbox, and follow the steps in the invite email you receive.

    The different Dropbox Business admin roles

    There are three tiers of Dropbox Business admins:

  • Team admin
  • User management admin
  • Support admin
  • The team admin is the highest tier of admin. The team admin can perform all admin tasks, including managing users, account setup, billing, and third-party app/security integrations.

    The user management admin can address most team management tasks, including adding or removing team members, and setting security permissions.

    The support admin can perform most day-to-day tasks like resetting passwords and creating activity logs.

    Add members to a Dropbox Business team

    1. Sign into dropbox.com with your admin account
    2. Click Admin Console.
    3. Click Account.
    4. Click the Add licensesbutton

    Delete a member from a Dropbox Business team

    Dropbox Business admins can delete or suspend a team member's work account.

    Delete a team member's account:

    1. Sign into dropbox.com with your admin account
    2. Click Admin Console.
    3. Click the gear icon beside the name of the person you want to remove
    4. Select Delete user.
    5. Choose whether to use the remote wipe option.
    6. Click Delete.

    Suspend a team member’s account:

    1. Sign into dropbox.com with your admin account
    2. Click Admin Console.
    3. Open the Members page
    4. Click the gear icon beside the name of the person you would like to suspend.
    5. Click Suspend or delete user.
      • Select Suspend, and choose whether to delete this user's files from any devices they may have linked to Dropbox (this feature is called remote wipe)
    6. Click Suspend again.

    Note:

    A suspended team member instantly loses access to their Dropbox Business team account, and all of its files and folders.
