Re: Stable Build 3.14.7

Dropbox,

why has had no one responded? There were a few Dropbox responses at the beginning of the thread? This is a epic fail on your end. Why do I need to run a script that some one else has created when I'm paying you to use a service that is clearly not working.

please resolve this issue ASAP. I have asked for you to turn off automatic updates (which I don't know why the user themselves can not do on there own). This is very unacceptable on Dropbox's end with the lack of response/support.

please correct this issue.

Re: Stable Build 3.14.7

I am a bit annoyed too.

I switched from google drive, as inSync was just too slow on startup. But at least it was working...

Re: Stable Build 3.14.7

Hi Bm, HT, Ciro, Ehren, and Thomas,

I've temporarily disabled updates for your accounts.  Sorry for the delay.

Here is a pointer to the previous version:

Thanks!

Re: Stable Build 3.14.7

Thx John.

Old version comes in handy.

In case I could help you guys with logs or stuff, just give me a shot.

For those, that don't want to wait for Dropbox to disable automaitc updates:

give chattr -i a try. Not shure it will work though...

Should be something like: chattr -Ri ~/.dropbox-dist

After you installed the old version. But dont forget to disable the readonly state after a while, as Dropbox will (fingers crossed) provide an update at some point.

[Editslightly smiling face Damn, thats the osX Version. Was looking for ubuntu though....

Re: Stable Build 3.14.7

Thanx John.

Updated: I have now downgraded to version 3.10.7 and that one seems to be working ok. I can access the icon in system tray, and the app seems to do both indexing and downloading/uploading. It's been a while since last time, so the remaining time is what it is, but I'm glad it seems to be running ok with an old version... Hope a stable 3.14.x with no bugs is just around the corner slightly smiling face

Bmj

Re: Stable Build 3.14.7

For the Dropbox devs, I copy here something that can be useful to debug this:

[Bug 1546176] Re: Dropbox icon not working on Xubuntu 14.04

Jeff Sat, 20 Feb 2016 17:46:18 -0800

Same here using xubuntu 14.04.3

I found this entry in ~/.cache/xfce4-indicator-plugin.log repeated every
time I restarted Dropbox

DEBUG      Indicator-Application     Building new application entry:
org.kde.StatusNotifierItem-2553-1  with icon:  at position 1
DEBUG      libindicator-plugin       Entry added for io=libapplication.so
WARNING    LIBDBUSMENU-GLIB          Getting layout failed:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownObject: No such object path
'/MenuBar'
CRITICAL   LIBDBUSMENU-GLIB          dbusmenu_menuitem_send_about_to_show:
assertion 'DBUSMENU_IS_MENUITEM(mi)' failed

The last line was repeated every time I clicked on the panel icon.

I only just now confirmed that my installation was updated on 2/16/16
without me knowing about it!
