Re: Do not want 'comments'

Do not want 'comments'

When I open files in a folder, shared or not, a side bar entitled 'comments' opens up. I don't want or need this so is there a way to stop this happening - other than tediously 'hiding' the comments bar each time a new image is opened?

I don't want them either.

I certainly second this request - Showing the comments sidebar only once should suffice

I reckon that Dropbox wants its users to be aware of this fine feature, but displaying the comment sidebar by default every single time a Dropbox link is opened produces a negative impact from a UX perspective. Even more so when the link has no comments at all.

was it solved this problem? I don't want to see a side bar full of 'comments' of 6 month old. How can i resolve this?

You can't. The Comments feature cannot be disabled.

Hey guys,

One more note here. You can do the following things:

  • Hide the comments sidebar by clicking on the comment icon
  • Resolve old comments by clicking on the little checkmark on the comment
  • Disable comments per file by clicking on the ellipsis (...) and choosing Disable comments

You can find more information about the comments feature here:

I hope this helps!
