How can I move the documents folder into the Dropbox folder

How can I move the documents folder into the Dropbox folder

Hi,

I thought there is a feature by which you can change your default documents folder into the dropbox folder or vice versa. However I cannot find this anymore. Can anyone help me with it?

Thanks,

Peter

difference between full back up and regular dropbox

Hy,

I googled for the difference between full backup by dropbox and the regular dropbox. On the dropbox site I found this answer:

Computer backup applies to entire folders on your PC or Mac. When you enable computer backup, files saved in folders like Desktop, Documents, and Downloads are automatically and continuously synced to your Dropbox account so you don’t have to drag them manually.

Probably it is my shortcoming, but I still don't understand the difference. Now I have three questions.

1. Doesn't the regular (or original) syncing not sync automatically and continuously to my dropbox account? If so, what is backup doing, that the regular function doesn't or vice versa?

2. Is it possible to backup all folders and files on my computer (it is a MacBook Pro), for example also all mail with annexes, with the backup feature? Or even better: does it make an image of the whole computer?

3. Should I use both methods or just one, and if so, which?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Hi @Peter I.3, thanks for posting today!

The 'normal' syncing syncs any files in the Dropbox folder to and from the site.

The computer backup feature moves the Documents folder (and some others) into the Dropbox folder. It isn't possible to sync the entire computer to Dropbox.

It depends on your requirements, but you can try the normal syncing and then later enable the computer backup feature if you need it.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know!

Wait, you can't sync the entire computer to Dropbox? Can you confirm this isn't the case? Because I was just sold a yearly subscription of Dropbox Plus after SPECIFICALLY stating that this is what I needed to do. Was I lied to?

Hi @joepan, only files locate in the Dropbox folder can be synced to the site, so entire computer backups aren't possible.

The computer backup feature only syncs a few system folders to the site, and is detailed here.

Hi @RBelchior, welcome to our Community!

It sounds as if you're referring to our Computer backup feature.

Here are the steps you'd need to follow in order to disable it.

If you have any other questions, I'm here.
